The development of sophisticated language skills is key to pupils’ success across the curriculum. Through language, pupils access new material, communicate ideas and think. Our Oracy Policy sets out the value we place on spoken communication and the ways in which we teach it throughout our curriculum. Our Vocabulary Policy sets out our approach to developing pupils’ knowledge of English words.  We use a programme called ‘Vocabulary Ninja’, teach new words every day and teach technical vocabulary for subjects across the curriculum.
