Results and OFSTED
As you may be aware, there were significant changes to assessment in all schools in 2016.
The tests were made harder this year and the way that the changes were made has been very disruptive. Children were not given the normal amount of time to study for the tests.
This means that, despite their hard work and talent, some children did not reach the standards that they were expecting in the key stage tests. This is not the fault of the children or the teacher: rather, it is the outcome of changes to the national curriculum and a resetting of the expected standard.
As staff become more accustomed to the new curriculum and testing arrangements we fully expect children's performance to improve in all areas of the curriculum.
There is more information about the changes to assessment here.
